A way Out
A way out
They say there is a light at the end of a tunnel. But when you are in that deep darkness, even the sun doesn't seem brighter to you as you see there's no way through this, no way to stop this rather than the exiting the life. Yet there is a way out.
At some point of your life you stepped on an obstacle. But you didn't let it go after that. You carried the burden with you without knowing it. All the time it comes to your mind and haunts you. So your body begin to think that your are in a constant danger zone. So your body decided to keep it's fight or flight mechanisms 24/7 on. And you become a victim of the depression.
When people ask " What's your problem ? What's bothering you ? What's going on with you ? "you are answerless. Because it's not something like you are stressed about your upcoming exam or about the presentation you have in a couple of weeks. But for a person with depression you don't know why you feel like this. It's a random feeling of sadness, hopelessness, negativity and darkness combined with an immense physical pain in every aspects you can possibly imagine. So as the society says you can't just get over this. Only if that was that easy.
But we can get over this. If you had let gone of that thing or things which haunts, you wouldn't be in this in the first place. Yet they kept coming on an on to your mind and you kept thinking and ruminating about them which leads to where you are right now. We practiced ourselves to think negativity for quite some time and now without our awareness our mind keep projecting the same patterns of negativity which we trained.
So take the wheels to yourself now. Don't let your mind to over run you. Whenever a negative thought comes to you just drop it. Break the pattern you have created in mind. Don’t think about it over and over. Instead, think about powerful positive things. Think about something which motivates you. Keep the thought in your mind like " I'm happy , I'm alright , I've no problems ... " anything which you feel the most. But in order to do that you need mindfulness. The only way for a person to develop his or her mindfulness is meditating. The best meditation for this as I see the " Maithri bawanawa ". There are thousands of video on YouTube where you can learn how to proceed it. So if you keep your mindfulness at least for a day, I can guarantee you'll feel different, because I did.
But it's easy to say but actually doing it and overcoming from this dreadful state is far difficult. For some it may takes years and years. I consider myself lucky, as for me I had proper guidance and principals I hold on to overcome this. For someone who haven’t had that assistant, it won't be easy. So as prevention is better than curing, be aware of your feelings and mind. If you feeling down for sometimes , if you feel sad , hopelessness for no reason, if you are feeling like wanting to exit, please seek help. Because like I said when you are there you are up against a opponent far beyond yourself. So be mindful always. Be mindful of what you take in to your mind and what you hold on to. Be mindful !
